Margaret's Hope Darjeeling TGFOP

from £5.00

This is a lovely tea with a very sad story. In the 1930s the garden was owned by a Mr Bagdon who lived in London but visited regularly, His younger daughter, Margaret saw the tea garden and loved it, hoping she would return one day. On her journey back to London, she fell ill on the ship, and sadly died soon after. Her father changed the name of the garden to Margaret’s Hope.

Typical of other Darjeeling teas, different flushes provide different flavours. This particular one is second flush.

First Flush is picked late February to mid April, and the young leaves yield a light fresh tea with intense muscatel flavour. This makes a lovely light and gentle afternoon tea.

The second flush is harvested in June, and are more fully developed. The liquor is bright and the taste is full and round, with excellent muscatel notes, making an excellent afternoon tea.

Autumnal flush is not always available, dependent on the weather. They are typified by a rounded taste and coppery liquor, and is excellent as a breakfast tea.
